The M241D is designed as a direct swap plug and play replacement for your traditional hot stamp coder. The M241D can be connected to the already installed hot-stamp coder I/O cables and function as a drop-in replacement.
For new or non-plug and play installation, the M241D can be wired with extra functionality to interlock the M241D with the host packaging machine. If connected, should the M241D run out of ribbon or encounter a fault that stops it from printing – the M241D will issue a signal for the host packaging machine to stop immediately and will not run until the fault has been cleared. This prevents any non-printed items from going on through the packaging line.
This external fault output is a volt-free signal which can be wired into the host packing machine.
This functionality is non-standard for the M241D and therefore is disabled on the standard M241D coder. Additionally, this functionality requires a specific cable that is again not supplied with the standard M241D coder.
To enable this functionality, please complete the following steps:
- Purchase SKU 409389 (3m I/O Cable 4-pin -> bare wires) from the ‘spares’ store on the marshcoding.com website.
Please check you select the correct I/O cable SKU – there are multiple options available.
- Please Sign In (or Register first, if you haven't already) and then view/download the ‘host packaging integration guide’ from our Document Library.
o The ‘Host packaging integration guide’ provides the relevant information to enable the fault output (removing X3 link) and wiring information.
PLEASE NOTE: SKU 409389 is an unterminated/bare wires cable that requires electrical knowledge for installation. Marshcoding and all related parties are not accountable for any damage to equipment (host packaging machine or M241D coder) or person should this be incorrectly implemented.
PLEASE NOTE: Once the fault output has been enabled – the standard I/O cable supplied with the M241D will not function. If you wish to reuse this cable, you must reverse the modifications.
PLEASE NOTE: Purchasing SKU 409389 and enabling the ‘fault output’ requires additional wiring to the standard plug and play installation and therefore may take longer than 30minutes to install.
